JOSEPHINE NKEMDILIM MASADE EQUAL RIGHTS AWARD

Awarded to a company who has exhibited a strong commitment to gender equality.

Nominees:

Ark and Rainbow Development Foundation (Nigeria)
Ark and Rainbow Development Foundation fosters an inclusive society through leadership and capacity-building initiatives. Their projects include the SCALE Project, workshops for human rights advocates, and the Palliative Bank Project, which provided skills acquisition and education materials to underserved communities in Ogun State. The Foundation collaborates with civil society organisations and has received international recognition.

Bella Foundation for Child and Maternal Care (Nigeria)
The Bella Foundation for Child and Maternal Care has made significant progress in combating child marriage in Ojo, Lagos Mainland, and Apapa LGAs. Their efforts have shifted parents’ mindsets, resulting in increased
school enrollment for girls. The foundation currently supports 12 survivors and at-risk girls from
these areas, re-enrolling them in senior secondary school. This initiative helps reduce gender
inequality and promotes reproductive health by equipping girls with the knowledge to prevent
unwanted pregnancies.

Tech Herfrica (Nigeria)
Tech Herfrica empowers rural women and girls through digital and financial literacy, impacting
4,080 participants across 22 Nigerian communities. The initiative provided mobile devices,
enabling e-commerce and social media engagement, leading to increased income and adoption
of agritech and fintech technologies. The programme also promoted health insurance and long-term savings plans.

Ceciliaofor Empowerment Foundation (Nigeria)
Ceciliaofor Empowerment Foundation advocates for women’s health and empowerment
through initiatives like the “Sustainable Menstrual Health” programme, which teaches girls to
produce reusable pads and natural deodorants. The Foundation’s work spans nine Nigerian
states, addressing period poverty, gender equality, and environmental sustainability
through community ownership and partnerships.

Salt House (Nigeria)
Salt House envisions a continent with equitable opportunities for all Africans. Their mission is to
promote inclusion through research, policy, advocacy, and programmes focused on gender
equality, inclusive governance, and the Sustainable Development Goals. The organisation’s
initiatives provide opportunities for learning and collaboration and empowers underserved
communities by fostering positive change.
