CAHR Awards Africa – Full Terms and Conditions
1 BACKGROUND
1.1 These terms and conditions (Terms) apply to entries submitted for the CAHR Awards Africa (the “competition”) operating on our website at www.sitei.org/cahrawards/ (the “Website”). By entering the Competition, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1.2 The Competition is organised by CSR-in-Action Advocacy (CiA). Registered as Corporate Social Responsibility Awareness and Advancement Initiative.
1.3 CiA reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition or the terms if an event outside of our reasonable control “occurs, whether business exigency or a force majeure.” CiA will make reasonable efforts to display any changes on the website.
1.4 The decision of CiA in relation to any dispute about the terms, conduct, results, and all other matters relating to the competition is final in its sole discretion.
1.5 The competition is open to entries from people and institutions across Africa submitting their own work, or who are nominated by third parties of African citizen. Nominees will be contacted to validate their nomination. If there is no response from a nominee after 3 days, their nomination or shortlisting will be invalidated.
1.6 Category winners, nominees and finalists are not provided with complimentary air tickets to the award ceremony.
1.7 The judges’ decision will be final, and no explanation, correspondence or discussion will be offered or entered into before or following the judges’ decision. Additionally, feedback will not be given on any successful or unsuccessful entry before or following the judges’ decision.
1.8 CiA will not be held responsible for obtaining visas or booking flights to Nigeria for the award ceremony or related matters but can write a letter of invitation on behalf of applicant.
2 PRIZES
2.1 The prizes are not transferable.
2.2 Cash prizes are subject to endowment by a third party organisation, family or individual. Only categories with endowments will grant the winners cash prizes/ Endowment prizes availability may change from year to year, and CiA will not be held liable if a category is not funded per year.
2.3 Cash prizes, for endowed categories, will be transferred to all winners by bank transfer after the official announcement of the winners at the award ceremony within 45 days. Winners must claim their prize and provide their banking details for payment (and postal address if needed) within three weeks of the notification being sent or the cash prize will be forfeited. If no banking details have been received after 30 days, winner may forfeit their right to a cash payment. The funds will be remitted in the currency of the winners’ country and at the current official market exchange rate.
2.4 Awards trophies will be handed out at the Awards Ceremony. Any winner unable to attend a ceremony or send a stand-in to collect their trophy will arrange for pickup. CiA is not responsible for delivering trophies to winners. On special occasions, and for valid reasons, trophies may be sent out by registered post within 30 days following the final Awards ceremony.
2.5 For-profit Organisations which win any funded category will not be paid.
2.6 All taxes and insurance are the sole responsibility of winners.
3 Use of Entries
3.1 By entering the competition, you confirm that you will abide by the terms of this document and that you are a societal changemaker. You further confirm that your entry does not infringe any third-party rights (including intellectual property and privacy rights) and the data is represented accurately and sourced appropriately to the best of your knowledge.
3.2 You agree that CiA and third parties authorised on our behalf, including sponsor and media, may make your entry available for non-commercial marketing or internal communications purposes related solely to the Awards. CiA and it’s affiliates may use said material for commercial purposes. Example usage includes newspapers, magazines, websites, social media posts and blogs; printed materials at our awards ceremonies; prints at exhibitions specifically related to the awards or CIA’s work; projected and on-screen visuals at our ceremonies; videos and photos displaying winners; case studies, books and presentations related to these Awards. At all times, shortlisted candidates, finalists and winners retain the right to use content in which they appear.
3.3 Winners agree to sign a release form in connection with their Entry, if requested by CiA.
4 LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
4.1 CiA is not responsible for:
(a) any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered for entry into the competition or as a result of accepting one of the prizes;
(b) any loss or damage that is not reasonably foreseeable.
(c) any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer systems relating to their participation in the Competition and associated events, including the Awards Ceremony.
5 GOVERNING LAW
5.1 The Competition and these Rules are governed by the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The awards and these terms & conditions are managed by the CSR-in-Action team. We may revise these conditions at any time by amending this page. You are expected to check this page from time to time to take notice of any changes we make, as they are binding on you. Some of the provisions contained in these conditions may also be superseded by provisions or notices published elsewhere on our site.
