This award is given to an individual who demonstrates strong compliance with mainstreaming
human rights norms in operations and significantly impacts safeguarding livelihoods.
Nominees
Mercy Odondo (Kenya)
Mercy Odondo is a human rights defender and founder of The Kenya Annual Human Rights
Debate and Gender Dialogues. Her initiatives create safe spaces for women and girls to discuss
issues like gender-based violence and reproductive health. Mercy’s work empowers women to
advocate for their rights and participate in decision-making, providing educational resources,
mentorship, and life skills training through partnerships.
Milka Hadida (Kenya)
Milka Hadida advocates against period stigma, early marriages, and female genital mutilation in
Tana River County. Her work empowers girls, reducing school absenteeism and improving selfesteem. She reaches girls in remote areas, providing sanitary pads and hygiene education, and
collaborates with organisations like the Kenya Red Cross to support women’s rights.
Amb. Dr Prevail Farida Olayinka (Nigeria)
Ambassador Prevail’s Farida Charity Foundation empowers teenagers, widows, and individuals
with disabilities through education, health, and financial support. The Foundation’s initiatives
include relocating women and children from the North to safer environments, providing
leadership training, and supporting vulnerable groups with essential resources.
