Dr. Nechi Ezeako, Principal Consultant/CEO of EL-Values Advisory
Dr. Nechi Ezeako is a Lawyer, Chartered Secretary and Administrator, authorised Corporate Governance and Board Leadership trainer, certified Company Secretary trainer, Anti-Corruption and Ethics Compliance faculty and Board Evaluator with over 30 years of experience in the consulting, financial services, manufacturing, real estate, not-for-profit sectors, etc. She holds, among others, a Master of Science (Distinction) degree in Corporate Governance from the Leeds Metropolitan University, now Leeds Beckett University, United Kingdom. She is an Alumnus of the Lagos Business School Senior Management programme as well as the Executive Leadership High Achievement programme. For a period in excess of a decade, Ezeako served as Group Company Secretary and Legal Adviser of FinBank Plc, then a public-quoted financial institution (now part of FCMB). Thereafter, as the Principal Consultant/CEO of EL-Values Advisory, a Management Consulting and Legal Services firm founded by her, she led project teams with responsibility for various corporate governance (CG) initiatives including training, frameworks development, evaluation, development of policies, procedures and processes, automation and internalization, among others. In her subsequent roles as Executive Director, Institute of Directors, Nigeria (IoD) and the Executive Director/CEO of IoD Centre for Corporate Governance, spanning nearly five years, she played a key role in developing and delivering bespoke CG services and offerings as well as training of directors and leaders of major corporations, SMEs and public sector institutions on Corporate Governance and public sector governance as well as Anti-Corruption and Ethics Compliance. Ezeako served as a member of the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) Panel of Experts and of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Corporate Governance Working Group (CGWG) which developed the Corporate Governance Codes for Private Universities in Nigeria and the Nigerian Telecommunications sector, respectively. She also served on the Council of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) in various capacities including as Chairperson of the Nominations and the Law Reform committees; as well as the Board of the Kolade Endowed Chairs Foundation, as the Chairperson, Rules & Governance Committee. For three years ending August 31, 2020, Nechi also served as the Secretary of the African Corporate Governance Network (ACGN). Ezeako is a Board member of the Lagos Court of Arbitration, the CSR-In-Action Advocacy, a member of the Ethics Committee of the IoD Nigeria Council and the Vice Chair of the ICSAN Audit Committee.
A Deloitte West & Central Africa (2013) and JCM (2020) International Women’s Day (IWD) Role Model, a Speaker, Trainer and Facilitator, with participation at major conferences and workshops across five (5) Continents, anchored mainly on Corporate Governance, Ethics, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Board and Director Roles, Responsibilities, Rights and Liabilities, the Role of the Company Secretary and General Counsel, the Christian Life and the Law, Ezeako is a Fellow of ICSAN, Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Nigeria and Member, IoD. She has received awards, locally and overseas, and considers raising her four adult children; her greatest fulfillment.
