Abiodun Baiyewu, Executive Director, Global Rights
Abiodun Baiyewu is a seasoned project director, experienced in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; and with expertise in human rights, natural resource governance, conflict, gender, international development, community organizing and civic engagement. She has cogent experience working with and engaging government at all levels, business corporations, grassroots communities, multi-lateral and non-governmental organizations.
Currently, Abiodun directs Global Rights’ programs and specifically works on Access to Remedies, Women’s Rights, Natural Resources and Human Rights, Civic Space Strengthening, and Security and Human Rights programs. Her work focuses on programs that address governance failures that exacerbate the disenfranchisement and the violations of the rights of the poor and marginalized, women and victims of discrimination.
Abiodun Baiyewu is the Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of the African Coalition for Corporate Accountability, Chair of Justice Empowerment Initiative, and a member of the governing boards of Annies’ Place, Srarina Initiative, Workforce, and, Initiative for Participation and Inclusive Development. She was recently elected the Non-State Actors Co-chair of the Extractive Transparency Working Group for Nigeria.
She is also an alum of the Women’s Law and Public Policy Fellowship at Georgetown University. In addition she is an accredited mediator, dispute resolution trainer, and an HIV/AIDS youth counselor.
